Yesterday I met Anni, a librarian who interviewed me for the Gwinnett County Public Library blog! Sadly, before I met Anni I forgot to warn her about two things:
1) I hug like it's going out of style.
2) I am founder of The Awkward Club for Awkward People
Hopefully, Anni will not write up weird things about me as a result of that.
So anyhow, on my last video someone commented on my bookshelves. I kind of collect books. Even if I read a book and don't like it, I usually keep it. I like having this little paper map of all the things I've read. Anyhow, that means I have quite a few books, especially since I had a friend build me these massive bookshelves to fill...and I mean, I can't just let a bookshelf go unfilled, right? (Side note: This mentality plus turning on Amazon's One Click ordering has been the death of my bank account.)
Here are pictures of them-- tell me if we have books in common! :)
Case one, top to bottom: Antique childrens' readers that my grandparents and neighbors gave my parents for me to have when I was young; yearbooks; poetry; adult fiction; non-fiction; classics; childhood favorites I've kept (Indian In The Cupboard FTW); comics/graphic novels (Calvin and Hobbes also FTW). PAY NO ATTENTION TO THAT WILTING HOUSEPLANT ON THE LEFT! NO ATTENTION WHATSOEVER! *waters houseplant hopefully*

Case two, top to bottom: Big fat classics/collections/anthologies; Harry Potter (that's right, I have a Harry Potter SHELF ppl *HPlove*); YA paranormals (two shelves); graphic novels (BLANKETS, on the far right, is one of my favorite books ever).

Case three, top to bottom: Non-fiction; writing; YA paranormal; YA historical and Contemporary; YA contemporary and AS YOU WISH/SISTERS RED copies; YA contemporary.

Case four, top to bottom: Cookbooks; manuscripts/journals; my old Boxcar Children books (my favorite-ist series ever-- my mom had to dole them out to me like candy); my mom's old Trixie Belden series.

I was talking about this last night to a couple of people, and it got me wondering...in shapeshifter books, do you prefer your love scenes with both persons in human form, one in shifted form, or both shifted (assuming they can both shift)? Or does the thought of shifted heroes/heroines engaged in sex make you kind of squidgy?
Edited to clarify: I'm not speaking about the dragons, although some of them do shift. I'm more looking ahead to the new series, which will have a shapeshifters in them. I'm just curious to see what line people draw in shapeshifter books.

1) Either there is a dinosaur outside, someone is blasting dinosaur sounds through a speaker system, or that construction crew has found the perfect tool to use in the next Jurassic Park movie.
2) I keep organizing my book shelf. Then reorganizing it. This must end.
3) THIS DAMN HISTORICAL NOVEL WITHOUT A TITLE has been officially picked up again, and it is just as hard to write as it was before. Isn't practice supposed to make writing EASIER? Because wow. This is hard. *Powers through*
4) It is almost CHRISTMAS! Do you know how much I love Christmas!?!?
5) Yeah, I'm gonna need to cuddle this right now. Who can make that happen for me?

Slowly, every so slowly, this book I'm so late on delivering is progressing. That is my good news for the week--that and the fact that I'm still sane (mostly). Yay!
I'm in the process of compiling a master list of online sites/blogs/forums that are interested in romance, and steampunk (not necessarily together). Once I have the master list compiled, it'll be passed on to Jodi, my publicist at NAL, who is coordinating a huge campaign for Steamed. More about that later (you guys who don't run a romance site or review books shouldn't feel left out--you'll benefit from the official PR, too).
Speaking of which, if you run such a site, drop me a line.
There's also a DO NOT SEND list for sites/blogs/individuals that have trashed my books or me, but the less spoke about them, the better, right? I totally agree. I'm also trying madly to get a couple of handcrafted items done in time for Christmas, although a look at the calendar has me flinching. Where do the days go, that's what I want to know! If anyone finds them, could you send me a couple of month's worth of the little buggers?
Feel free to post your own goodly news here. You may include your own DO NOT SEND list of people or things that are riding your nerves, if it makes you feel better.

Theater company folded, getting married next year on my birthday, have lost 28 lbs. since 2006, still believe in Jesus, drinking again but not as much, am obsessed with Steely Dan, saw Bob Dylan for the 9th time, going to the farm again for Christmas, dog's good, fiance's good, another year down the shitter, Twitter has ruined me.

Today's Dishy Guy is Akim.

Now, while he's all yummy and stuff, he has...oh, how shall I put it...he has VEINY ARMS.

I realize that he can't control his veins any more than the rest of us can, but still, I can't help but wonder--can you overlook the bulging veins to appreciate all of Akim's many fine qualities? Like his willingness to take shots stark naked while apparently dangling in some bondage situation?

'Tis something to puzzle over, hmm?

7.Get license for said plane
8. Make an Earthquake kit (for someone living in California, I should already have one)
9. Have a family
10. Buy a better car
11. Get married
12. Own a yacht
13. Befriend someone in England, France, Australia and Alaska
14. Travel to England, Ireland, Spain, Italy, France, Australia and Alaska
15. Someday go back to the motherland (Mexico) and see the sights, instead of passing them and visiting family
16. Find out if I have family in Mexico City
17. Trace back my lineage
18. Find a person with my last name that is NOT related to me
19. Get a black kitty (although I'm allergic) and a black puppy...they will be best friends!
20. Go to my 10 year reunion from High School
21. Give my parents a house
22. Go on a cruise
23. Try and survive a Zombie attack (according to Facebook I will not survive past the first day!)
24. Befriend a T-Rex...I know they're dead but if there was ever one alive in my lifetime I would befriend it! :)
25. Have a ginormous house, that even I can get lost in!
26. Throw a theme party
27. Get out of comfort zone
28. Acquire one of the family "treasures"
29. Live happily
30. This is a FREE SPACE in BUCKET LIST...check off to feel like you accomplished something! :D

It's good news day again, so let's jump right into the goodish stuff.
The holiday trailer I made for NAL is now available here (my bit is in the fourth segment). I had far too much fun making it, so I hope you all enjoy it.
It's been wickedly cold here in the PNW (it was all of 14 out when I got up this morning), but sunny, and I'll take sunshine however I can get it. I'm also using a brand new SADD lamp that actually managed to clear up a headache I had been nursing for the last few hours. It's really amazing how a little light therapy can perk up your mood.
The snow you see in the picture is from last year, by the way. Thus far this winter we've been snow-free.
The Ben and Fran book is progressing nicely, although I had to go back in today and make Fran's life a little more hellish, since I felt she was having things far too easy. The Christmas tree was put up without the hub swearing once, although the traditional holiday bloodletting was accomplished via the saw used to cut off the base of the tree (it wouldn't be Christmas without blood on the tree, now would it?). And although I'm saddened that my beloved old girl isn't here to rub her face in the tree, as she used to do every year, I've brought out her furry winter coat and set it near the tree in memory of her.
We won't go into how odd a blue dog coat looks there.
So, how's your Tuesday going? What's all the good news going down?

OMG it is raining.
And raining.
And raining.
And I know I should be using this forced-indoors time to order Christmas presents, but I'm totally sitting here at the computer and eating chocolate croissants and pretending I'm being productive when I'm really just looking at YouTube and checking my email over and over.
Author FAIL.
Improv Everywhere WIN:
Um...back to regular life now. Yep. Oh look, more youtube...

May I present Tito to you all?

He looks a bit peeved in the picture above, but I assure you he's worth the time spent eyeballing his pictures.

For one thing, he's got green eyes. GREEN EYES!

He also looks good naked. Er...the parts that I've seen. Not that I've seen him in person, but the parts I've seen online. That is, I haven't seen his PARTS online, just pictures of some bits of his naked flesh. As in chest. Like above. That's it, naked chest. Ahem. Where was I?

Oh, he also has that intense stare down well. That's always bonus points in my bits. BOOKS, that's always bonus points in my books, I meant to say.
My, it's a little hot in here, isn't it? Think I'll go find a fan or something...
